Why It's Important to Visit Your Family Doctor's Office Routinely

Jun 22, 2022

According to NOTC, in March 2018, almost 40% of Americans reported not undergoing a prescribed medical test or treatment. In today's ever-busy world, doctor's visits may seem like a nuisance, but they're actually crucial. Your health is your most precious asset, and it should be treated accordingly. Taking care of your body will give it the strength to take care of you right back. Continue reading to see why it's so important to visit your family doctor's office routinely.

1. Chronic Disease Management

Your family doctor is capable of treating and monitoring a variety of chronic diseases and conditions, such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, and breathing problems caused by asthma. Additionally, they can prescribe refills for drugs used to treat chronic diseases, frequently in coordination with experts

2. They Can Provide Referrals to Medical Specialist

If you are diagnosed with a condition that requires the attention of a specialist, like a heart complication, a trip to a family doctor's office is typically a suitable first step. Your primary care physician can recommend and refer suitable specialists. When you begin therapy with a specialist, the physicians might collaborate to monitor your condition and manage your prescriptions. To qualify for specialty coverage under certain insurance policies, a referral to a specialist from your family doctor or internist is required

3. Care for Injuries or Illnesses

When you or a member of your family is ill or wounded, frequent visits to your family doctors office can effectively manage the illness without the need for expert assistance. Examples include minor fractures and sprains, common cold and flu, seasonal allergies, stomach viruses, pneumonia and bronchitis, and ear infections

4. Routine Examinations

Doctors in family medicine conduct a variety of routine tests, such as yearly physicals, newborn and well-child checks, sports physicals, female pelvic exams, including annual pap smears, and men's health screenings, including prostate exams

5. To Develop a Positive Relationship with Your Doctor

If you never visit a doctor, it is impossible to establish a connection with one. Visiting a family doctor's office frequently, on the other hand, means having someone who is familiar with your medical history and will work with you to design a healthy future. Although not every doctor will be ideal for you, keep searching until you discover a practitioner you like and trust as it will help promote a healthy lifestyle

6. To Determine Your Health Risk

If there is a history of conditions such as cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, or any other serious illness in your family, you may also be at risk for these conditions. Lucky for you, there are measures you can take to reduce your risk. A doctor can help you identify and determine with you the screening tests you need

Always make time for routine family doctor's office visits, regardless of how busy your schedule may be. Remember, health is wealth. Give us a call today to schedule an appointment.

If you’re researching the benefits of neurofeedback technology for the treatment of your neurological or physical ailments, you may find yourself asking: how is micro current neurofeedback different than traditional neurofeedback? In a nutshell - micro current neurofeedback is a faster and more efficient form of traditional neurofeedback. In traditional neurofeedback, information from an individual’s brain waves is transmitted to a computer. The activity is input into the neurofeedback program to create a sort of interactive experience for the patient – usually in the form of a video game, or movie. The patient attempts to mentally manipulate the experience by interacting with the training software, that allows them to train their brainwaves. In traditional neurofeedback, only an electrical signal of brain activity is sent to the interactive training software. There is no signal transmitted back to the brain, or any sort of tool to help patients target specific areas of the brain. As a result, this type of treatment may require 40 or more sessions to achieve meaningful results. Micro current neurofeedback can mimic the effects of intense, long-term therapy work, but with results seen on a faster and larger scale. Micro current neurofeedback sends brief stimulation to the nervous system, resulting in a temporary fluctuation in brainwaves, allowing the brain to “reset” and regulate itself. Using an electroencephalogram (EEG), the technician can pinpoint the area with the most erratic brain waves. They can then use the machine to balance the brain waves in both the left and right hemispheres of the brain. This form of treatment has proven to be extremely effective in helping individuals manage the symptoms of various conditions, like ADHD, anxiety, depression, substance abuse and more. Improvements and changes are generally noticed either immediately or within the first few sessions. Feelings of clarity, calmness, diminished headaches/migraines, improved sleep and depression, improvement in mood and more are often reported.
